Should I exchange my Define R4?

    I bought a Fractal R4 earlier this week from Newegg. When I took it out of the box, I was surprised to see that there was some sort of deformity in the top panel that kept it from sitting flush. The rear fan mount bows out; if you press it, it will bow right back up. If you press inward toward the middle fan mount, as you would in picking up the case, the middle fan mount bows out, but it can be pushed back down.

    I called Fractal's tech support number and they said they've never heard of anything like this. I don't know how much I believe that, though. Do any of you with the R4 have a similar problem? I'm trying to determine if this is worth exchanging the case over. I'm satisfied with it otherwise.

    I think some of the people here in Cases and Cooling do enough case modding to help you fix it on your own (assuming you have the right tools). If you ask me, it sounds like it was compressed slightly while it was shipping. You may want to RMA it to Newegg; they might handle it if Fractal refuses to.

    Now that you mention it, there was a dent in the top of the packaging, but I didn't think much of it at the time. If this actually is shipping damage, Newegg would probably cover the return shipping.

    But on the off chance that someone can help me fix this without the hassle, I'll stay tuned :)

    Fractal has already told me they can't do anything about it.

    If you see noticeable distortion anywhere, try gently pushing it back to what it should be. If that doesn't work, I wouldn't try over-the-top case mods just to make it work as normal. Try sending an email (with pictures as proof) over to Newegg to see if they'll replace it.
