Should I even bother to relax memory timings for higher FSB?

Right now, I'm getting over 9100 in 3dMark05 (http://service.futuremark.com/servlet/I...tails&projectType=12&projectId=578150). I noticed that others that were getting similar scores had their CPU speeds/FSB much higher than mine. Currently, I have all my memory on auto/optimized and have incresed my FSB a little up to 210 FSB (highest I can get with current RAM timings).

Am I better off just leaving things where things are or should I relax RAM timings and go for a higher FSB?

hmmm, i cant access your project but if your getting above 9000 in 3d mark 05 your not doin too bad. technically speaking your score will probably be higher if you do raise ur FSB and loosen your memory timings a bit

Sorry, prob cause I didn't buy 3dMark or the drivers weren't approved.

Oh, and by the way, I'm extremely n00b at OC'ing new systems. With my old system, I just increased FSB and that was pretty much it.

Hmmm....Platinum Rev 2 with the DFI NF4 board.

You can try to up the FSB little by little and raise the timings as you go. I've seen people get 300 FSB at 2.5-3-3-10 1T timings on the DFI NF4 boards with the same memory that you have. The 3200+ Winchester should be really good for overclocking. Just remember to drop the HT frequency and the CPU multiplier as you go higher on the FSB and you should be fine.

Thanks. The one thing I still want to know is when you say "2.5-3-3-10", what do those settings equate to in the BIOS?

Can I drop the multiplier with this CPU? I thought they were locked.

CAS latency - Ras To Cas - Ras Precharge - Tras - TRC

I recommend you take a look at A64 Tweaker it gives more options than bios regarding memory timings i find.

and yes, these cpus are locked, but you can lower, just not raise the multiplier above 10.
