Should I drive the 599 or the Gallardo?

A friend of mine bought tickets for a few of his closest friends to do one of those exotic trackday events. So I will be able to do a few laps at Fontana Motor Speedway in one of these cars. We're shooting for sometime in February to reserve for this. I can't wait.

I'm kind of leaning toward the Lamborghini.

599!!!!!!! I see so many Gallardos here in NY (and even in the ghetto areas of The Bronx) that it doesn't seem that special.

I've never seen a 599 in person + it just looks so much sexier. You do have good friends.

I got to walk through the warehouse at Port Newark where all the Ferraris get stored while between their boat ride and being loaded onto car haulers. This was...2007 or 2008. Had to be a few hundred cars there.

I couldn't find a manual. Sad, sad day for cars. I can only imagine they've got even more rare and/or non-existent.

The 'primitive' Gallardo seems to be fairly common with a real manual, though.

...better get a driving session in while they last...

The 599 is 1 class above the Gallardo (which is more of a competitor to the 430/458 class), plus it's RWD. The Gallardo is mid-engined though.

It's a close call, but I'd go for the 599.

At the risk of sounding like a Corvette apologist, GM's resources went into suspension R&D instead of dashboards so that the Ferrari could someday have a sweet suspension in the 599, and not just a nice dashboard.:whiste:

599! I've only seen a half dozen or so vs. many many dozens/hundreds of Gallardos. I'd think you'd have plenty of chances to drive a Gallardo, but few with a 599.
