Should I download Catlyst Control Panel? Are there any advantages in downloading it? Or is it just bloatware? I noticed that temperature monitoring isn't working with my x800gto with ATITool, is it because I lack this control panel?
 
I think maybe you mean CCC (Catalyst Control Center)? I think all the drivers include either the control panel plugin or CCC.

You don't need CCC. Not sure about the temp monitoring, though. You could always try it and uninstall it if it doesn't fix it...
 
CCC popped up and annoyed me every time I changed resolutions (exiting a game or something), so I uninstalled it.
