Should I downgrade my PayPal account?

I had to upgrade my account to accept a credit card payment for an auction. I had PayPal listed as a form of payment and I guess I should've specified... didn't realize I'd have a problem though. Anyway, I'm wondering if I should downgrade now, and just specify that I can't take credit cards through PayPal from now on. Do you think I'll lose any potential bidders by doing that? I don't know how PayPal works when you have a credit card on file with them... since I don't have a credit card. So thanks.

And just to make sure, when you have a premiere account, they take 2.9% + $.30 out of every transaction, right? Not just credit card payments?

open 2 accounts is better. one personal, one premiere. do not link your premiere to any bank account and send all money you get to personal as soon as you get it. my sister gave me full control of her premiere account. 😀😀😀

^ so which one do you link to ebay ? You'd still have to link the premiere one to keep from losing on CC payments, wouldn't you ? And by doing that, they would take their 2.9% cut right away regardless. Am I missing something ?

If you link your basic account, you still have the same problem of people not reading your verbiage about non-cc... and if they pay by CC against your basic, you lose out on the transaction altogether.

Yeah... do explain. Maybe you don't use eBay?

Not really. Just deny the payment and email them.

The sellers found the trick and have been accepted for a while, but it's a violation of Terms & Conditions as of now

3. PayPal account holders may not split payments between a Personal PayPal account and a Premier or Business PayPal account by directing buyers paying with credit card to pay their Premier or Business account and buyers paying with PayPal balance or bank account to pay their Personal account. If we find that you are splitting payments, you will be asked to pay the fees you attempted to avoid. Personal accounts are for personal use only. If you would like to do business through your PayPal account, you must use a Premier or Business account.

Guess I could've just done that. How does transferring funds to your PayPal account work when you have a credit card on file though? I know it usually takes 3-4 days for me to transfer money without one... that'd be a bit of an inconvenience if it's the same for others.

to answer your question, I used both paypal accounts on ebay.

it is really depend on what I am selling on ebay. if I am selling computer parts, I will use my non cc paypal to avoid the 2.9% fee.

I don't want to get people confused when I explicitly saying NON CREDIT PAY PAYMENT and they still managed to send me cc payment in payment. this usually happen in the other junks I sell...like crystal or scarf. in this case, I just use the paypal that can take cc to avoid the potential headache...
