Should I do something about this?

I had installed Bullzip’s Free PDF Printer on one of my computers (HP, Windows 8.1)

The app works well, but it doesn’t do what I need, so I uninstalled it.

During a routine Windows Explorer search, I spotted a Bullzip Event Log. The system tells me the file is in use, in Windows Audio (I’m not sure what Windows Audio is)

Why is Bullzip’s Event Log open in Windows Audio?

What has a printer got to do with Audio?

Should I try to delete that Bullzip Event Log?

Thank you for any help

It could be perhaps it tied itself to events when unzipping it would use a windows sound event.

It might have its very own service running. Visit control panel, administrative tools, services and look for it in the services list. If it is there then disable the service and now you can remove the offending file in question.

Windows Audio is one of the many services on your PC. It is hard to say exactly what that application would use that service for.

When installing the application, I noticed that it had three programs selected to be installed with it. The only one it really seemed to need was Ghostscript, for interpretation of Adobe PDF.

You may want to go to Programs and Features and see if you have the other apps still installed (hint: I usually tell it to sort by date in situations like this).

Thanks for your answers

In Programs & Features, I guess all is fine, I recognize all the programs I see. In Services, I cannot see Bullzip items.

In Services, I temporarily stopped all Windows Audio tasks.

Then, the system told me Bullzip Event Log was locked in something called DHCP Client.

I found a DHCP Client in Services, so I temporarily stopped it.

After that, the system said Bullzip Event Log was open in Windows Event Log.

I didn’t stop Windows Event Log, in Services, because it says it could compromise the computer’s security. I got a copy of the log, but Bullzip is not on it.

After I restarted, in Services, Windows Audio and DHCP Client, Bullzip Event Log is again locked in Windows Audio.

Is this normal?

YOu are on the right track then. Re-disable it and disable the other one again then boot into safe mode then you can delete it.

Thanks for the tips

I’ve had to learn how to start a computer in safe mode.

I followed your steps. Then I deleted the file. I emptied the Recycle Bin. Done a search and the file was gone.

I restarted the computer in normal mode. Done a search. The Bullzip Event Log file was back and still locked in Windows Audio.

Done the Safe mode thing, once again, I delete the file. Done a search and the file was gone.

Back to safe mode, the file reappeared.

I’ve done full scans of that computer for viruses, malware, trojans, rootkits. Everything came out clean.

So I did a restore.

Now the Bullzip file seems gone.

I have no idea what that thing is.

If it reappears I’ll let you know.

Thank you very much for all your help.
