Should I cover my car with a car cover at work?

There's a few small trees that provide shade just big enough to cover the cabin of the car. I get to work before most people so I usually get a spot with a shade most of the days but after coming back from lunch it's a different story.

I currently have a generic car cover and would like to start covering my car everyday but I don't want to look like an idiot since no one else covers their cars at all. Even people with nicer cars than mine don't bother with it. I would like to cover mine to protect from not only the sun but tree sap when I park under the trees.

Unless your car is perfectly clean (which it won't be since you drove it) you are going to scratch it up by removing and putting on a car cover everyday. Car covers are for long term storage. As long as your car is waxed then you are fine.

I've rubbed off some of the clear coat on a paint job by using a car cover. I wouldn't recommend using onw.

That is getting WAY too anal. Plus, as others have said, you can damage the paint unless the car is clean.

I wouldn't bother.

Yea, honestly if someone at my workdid that, they would be the laughingstock of the office (and rightfully so, that's pretty damn anal). So I would recommend not covering it for that reason alone!
