Should I count my losses or work with what I have?

nvidia chipset. you just failed the thread.

I'm sorry but I also have to say this....

You must've also missed his comment about having a 9500GT OC'd laying around?

So, nice job on:

Not reading the thread,
Ignoring the OP's original post and subsequent comments,
Commenting on someone else's post with your incorrect assumptions,
Providing no helpful input,
And basically failing all around.

And you did it all in one quick reply. Usually it takes people a paragraph or two, or at least 2 or 3 replies, to fail that many times.

Nice work.

The question reduces to this: Is it time to stop investing in a dead platform and move on to something new? Throwing money at AM2+ seems increasingly pointless.

It isn't pointless if it serves its purpose, and you don't have to throw much money at it. It isn't like fixing up an old car or something that is bound to break down no matter how many times that you fix it. Advantage of an older platform is that you can save some cash. Be smart.
