Parents are coming up for the weekend and I have the option to changing up the speaker setup for the dorm room.
Right now I am running a Logitech Z-640 5.1 on Asus A7n8x dlx Onboard Soundstorm...
I have the option of running the Soundstorm's digital output to a Philips Fr969 Receiver and these 2 speakers I built during high school along w/ a 100 watt subwoofer from Philips. Friend has already offered to pick up the 640s for $60. What do you guys think?

These two speakers cost about 160 to build in h.s. ...they are wooden...come w/ titanium tweeters and good woofers...should i bother? I'd be downgrading from 5.1 to 2.1 but I have the rear speakers in front of me anyway because the room doens't have enough space. Thanks.

If you game, no, if you listen to music, yes, if you watch dvd's I'd still probably say yes because of the room setup

Dont worry about the gaming. If your worried about gamming buy some zalman speakers. THey produce a behind you feel because they have more then 2 speakers on the headphones.

dude ditch the logitechs and go for the big sound. louder = better in a dorm. i still have the speakers i used to annoy my dormmates with in college, great stuff, covered with stickers from all the adventures i had back then. great memories.
