I wouldn't

think about it... everything you do on a computer is up and down... you scroll UP and DOWN not side to side... you know why? cause computers are based in an up to down enviroment... wide screen you lose that up to down space. I hate my laptops widescreen, and wish it were regular.

If you watch a LOT of movies, then fine, widescreen makes sense... but do you have a pc or a dvd player?

Yeah...hell, even a 4:3 isn't perfectly square...so technically my 2001fp IS widescreen:cool:

OKAY, I know that it isn;t:(

I went with the 2005FPW. It will be here this week. :)

Why wide instead of the 2001FP?

I just like it better. I had a 20" Apple Cinema display for a while and I found that the wide screen is more condusive to how I work.

I have two 2001fp's, and have no regret for not waiting on 2005fpw. And, like the other person said, games and whatnot are based around square(ish) screens... so when you play games your not playing on a 20.1inch screen, it's like a 16 inch or so.

I see. I hardly ever use my monitor for DVDs. I use it for gaming and other computer-related activisities like AIM.

So I guess I will stick with my order.

No, the 2005FPW has about 15% less pixels, it uses widescreen so you will have to tweak your old games to get them to work correctly.

no

i would regret it if it is something like 1900x1200

but it is like 1600x1080 so there is less real estate (dont know exactly what it is)

my laptop has the same res as a 2005FPW and I prefer the 2001FP because I am getting more real estate

i actually would prefer a widescreen but not for less pixels

if it had the same # of pixels and was WS i would probably take it in a heartbeat

then again I do have 2x2001FP's anyway so technicaly that is much wider than widescreen :)

my 2005fpw came in today. I like it.

I was consiering the 2001 but I opted not to get it because of the migration towards widescreen. not just tvs but Longhorn is going to have that sidebar which will take up more screen space on traditional 4:3 monitors.

But I keep my monitors for a long time and if you plan on upgrading later on, then i say stick with the 2001.

hehe, my geforce3 titan3 is able to pull native resolution... i was hoping it would. although i'm not going to punish it by trying to play any games at that resolution.

$587.50 after tax for mine. And that's a lot for me, but $200 off of $800 on something that will last me around 5 years works fine for me. Hell, the CRT I'm using at home lasted 5 years after someone else gave it to me and it still works fine (even though I had to replace a fuse inside of it.. $1 for a pack of those fuses at radio shack).

it's a foot rest... I think i might have an extra you can have for the cost of shipping... iirc they retail around $80. I love it. I have one at home, and one at work. it tilts back and forth when you move your feet, and there are little roller massage things
