Should I cancel my $50 preorder of Win7?

I preordered Windows 7 for $50 back in July. Just a few days ago, though, I heard about the $30 deal for students, so I ordered that one instead using my girlfriend's university email account (I graduated a couple years ago).

Now I'm wondering if I should cancel my $50 preorder or not. It does have certain advantages... first, I can install one copy to her computer and one to mine, except she doesn't really care. Perhaps more importantly, I could sell the $50 preorder version for a small profit after I get it, since you can't get the $50 deal anymore. But I'd have to drop the $50 in the first place and then deal with selling it. Of course, if I cancel, there's no going back, since the deal has expired.

What would you guys do? You think I'll be able to make enough off of my preordered copy to be worth it?

Even if she doesn't care about Win7 on her computer, you will, when ya have to work on it.
I'd still buy it for 50, hang onto it for a bit decide then.

Yeah actually I did a search (after I posted this; should have done it before) and someone asked the exact same question a couple months ago. Consensus seemed to be that it won't be hard to sell a $50 copy for more than $50 if it's still sealed. So I won't necessarily lose anything if I do hold onto my order.

I probably was among those giving that advice. As things stand, a sealed copy of Win7 Upgrade can likely be sold at a decent profit in the next couple of months. No way will you lose money.

The only thing that might limit an early profit would be that there will be a lot of Win7 Upgrade copies on eBay. But those will dry up and the price will end up somwhere between $50 and $120.

I'd probably just put it on both machines for the added networking features like libraries anyways. Not having to know exactly which machine a file is on is AWESOME. When I got 7 installed on my main PC and fired up Windows Media Center, it picked up TV shows I had saved on my Home Server and completely forgotten about. That was cool.

But yeah, if you do decided to sell it, there's no way you'll lose money on the deal.
