I was given a pretty nice Antec Aria pc. I started to look at it last night to see what hardware is in it and thought WOW! Not too shabby considering it was free.

It has an Asus pciexpress mb with a P4 3.0 gig processor
6200 video card
160 gig sata HD
DVD RW
2x 1gig Kingston valueram

First I thought of putting my videocard in the Antec but then I figured the Antecs 200w ps would be way to weak to run a 7800GT and I don't want to give up my AMD64 processor.

So now Im thinking about switching the ram around between the systems with the goal of having 2 gigs in my box instead of my current setup. Whats holding me back is the Kingston memory in the Antec (if I understand CAS rating right) is slower than my current memory sticks. My 4 sticks are rated at 2.5 and the Kingston is 3. Is this a big deal? Am I better off with the 2 1 gig Kingston sticks even though they are slower?

Here are the memory specs

the 2x256 buffalo sticks I have are the same as the corsair

thanks

You are aware that posession of stolen goods is a crime, right? :p :D

Switch it around, play some games, and see if you feel a difference.

HEHE, Actually my brother gave it to me. :) He's one of those types of people who fixes problems with cash. He said it kept locking up on him and acting weird so he gave up and has already replaced it with another sff pc. First thing I did was check the cpu temp in bios. It was hovering around 56c. I don't know much about Intels but if this was my AMD64 I would be concerned so Im assuming the same applies for this Pentium4. That the darn thing was just overheating! A simple reapplying of the heatsink will probably fix it since he most likely didn't do it right in the first place since he is a noob at building his own pc. I called him and told him. He said he didn't care keep it anyway :)

So back to my memory question. You idea sounds ok but after working on my pc (just upgraded my mb and video card) and my wifes laptop for 2 nights Im burned out on the whole working on pc theme. If anyone has a definative answer that would be great!

Thanks for reading!

I think we have a w1nnar!

2x1gig will probably be a better setup even with the weaker timings. The Antec needs to be your new TVbox.
