Should I call?

So I did an interview on Monday and they said they would make a decision by the end of the week. The person I interviewed said they would call me either way and let me know. It is now friday and no call back. Should I call them and inquire as to there decision? BTW I already sent a Thank You letter for the interview as soon as I got home on Monday. In said letter i expressed my desire to work for their company.

So what do you think? Call or no call? If I do call it would be the hiring managers cell as that is the only number I have for them.

See that is my point. I don't want to be a pest or anything.

I see your point here but I don't want to seem like someone who has no patience.

I'm kinda in this situation (but the reverse) right now...I have 2 guys waiting that i told them we would call early this week, but we did call another early in the week and told him he had the job but said he would think about it and get back to us today. The other two guys sent thank yous and did call us up yesterday to inquire and all we could tell them was that "the search was still in progress and sorry for the delay"

so in reguards to your question there is no harm in calling, just dont be surprized if what u hear back is "don't stop looking elsewhere"

Even tho it would be his personal cell number I would call him on? Would that still be ok in your eyes?

Ok I called. They said they are still in the process of making a decision. I stated that I wanted to check on the stauts of their decision and that I am still interested in the position. So I guess everything is ok still.

Just wish I knew one way or another.

Dude, I work in business and I do plenty of recruiting, and I can tell you that it's not a big deal either way. They KNOW you want a job because you applied for it, so it's not like you calling will be a surprise. So, you can call today or Monday, and it won't matter. One call won't drive them nuts. Just make sure that if he says they don't know and they'll call you back that you ask for a time-frame. Otherwise, you'll go through this again.

But, I'll tell you, if it was me, I'd wait until around 9:00 or 10:00 on Monday morning, just because it's sometimes nice to not look desperate. Or, if you do call today, make a comment like, "I really am interested in this job, and I just don't want to commit to someone else if this job will be available to me." That way, you look like you're looking elsewhere, others may or may not be interested, and you're just trying to be thoughtful to all those involved.

Many companies will tell you they'll call you either way, but in reality you'll only be notified if you're offered the position. Shady, but it happens often.

Way to go you just crossed yourself off the list of potential candidates. ;)

Yeah, when I called I did not mention that I was looking else where. But based on the tone of his voice it did not seem he was adverse to my calling and check up on things. So I will wait patiently for them to make their decision on monday and if I don't hear back from them I will call them on Tuesday morning and inquire as to their decision.
