I like it when you wake up in the morning, and it's still dark outside. Then it's kinda like you were only asleep for a few minutes instead of hours and you get the ninja-ish rush like "look at me, I'm all badass cuz I'm wide awake in pitch darkness". Then of course you realize that you just forgot to open your shades and find out you're 2 hours late for work because your alarm clock went the way of the dodo.

whats with all the non-sensical completely off topic posts tonite?

i mean, this is OT and all...but at least try to stick to the thread at hand instead of running off on a wild tangent that has nothing to do with anything...

i like it doggystyle ;)

you don't have to tell me how good it is :D
Your dog probably likes it too!

SP2 is definetely crap. Most software firewall's will no longer work once you install it. This includes all of the usual suspects, Norton Internet security, McAfee what ever the he|| they have, and the like. The security center is litterally a bunch of crap.

wrong, ive installed in on many comps running norton, mcafee and kas, non had any issues, the security thing detected the installed AV software and that was that

Now granted, if you are 99.9% of windows users, like implyed, then this "security" update was worth it. If you didn't have a firewall, its worth it. On the other hand, if you were using a firewall you liked and didn't want to buy another new one that was compatible, your SOL. At least the MS included firewall actually does something in SP2 though, before it was pretty much useless.

Kerio, Norton and Sygates firewalls all work fine with SP2 as well as Zone alarm so i have no idea WTF you are talking about

I've also heard of media related problems to do with XviD and DivX codecs, which work fine b4, and stop playing properly after SP2. I've also heard of BitTorrent applications that will either a) no longer work, or b) work but might as well not with the kinds of speeds you get. Of course this only applys to people that use the default port, 6881 - but still. There are lots of legal mean's for BT, and MS made the wrong descision in messing with Net Traffic like that. I've also hear of older games that people had no problem playing and all of a sudden did after the install, like mentioned above.

also never see this happen, BT and all codecs were unchanged after the upgrade

Quoted for the truth, if you are having problems with this software then something else is going wrong. Most likely USER error.

Ditto.

no reason not to install it

unless of course you are on the anti-m$ bandwagon, afraid of change, or too incompetent to tweak things to work well

My 2 cents.

Yoda291's post was (to me) actually on-topic; because:

#1 A similiar situation has actually happened to me.

#2 If you are coming to this forum and asking "which should I get, SP2 or Longhorn",
without already doing a search on the hundred and umpteen threads that have already
cussed and discussed those issues, then you might as well be laying in the darkness,
because you are already late for the conversation.

Frankly, I happen to like the improved USB support in SP2, and the ability to tell sites
that try to install Gator-like programs "No, I don't want to download that program,
and never ask me to again". As well as the improvements in handling
program installs and patch management.
