Should I buy this Weber gas grill AT??

SAWYER

Lifer
My old gas grill needs to be replaced and I put an ad on craigslist looking for a grill. I get an email last night from someone with a 4 burner Weber gas grill and cover for $200. I have never had a Weber but know they are a little more expensive that some others. I did a google for 4 burner Weber grill and there were just too many different models and the prices were pretty high. Would this be a good deal if it checks out? They said it was two years old and she is selling because it is just her and she doesnt use it anymore.

Can't go wrong with a Weber for $200 unless there is some serious visible damage to it. Even if you had to replace burners/grates/etc. I think you would still come out way ahead.

Real men make their own grill. A complete retard can craft one that is cheaper, and tastes 100x better.

I'm pretty sure the Genesis is 3 burner (unless she is including the side burner or the sear station).

Can she take a picture for you? Have her send you one of the grill, too.
Thats what I am thinking maybe she is counting the sear station burner. Otherwise it is probably a Summit and OP should get his ass down there now.

I just emailed and based for a pic. What is better about a Weber compared to other Wal-Mart brands?

Mostly it's about customer service and parts availability. For sure a Weber is a cut above most when it comes to quality of parts. Burners and grates are heaver duty steel/iron/stainless. Caster wheels are better quality. Lids and seals have much higher tolerances.

But where Weber shines is the after the sale and 5 year down the road support. Grills aren't lifetime items. Things rust out and nobs stop working. With weber they'll warrant *many* items for free. And if they don't, you can spend $20-$50 to replace them instead of buying a new grill.

A friend of mine had a genesis grill and we had a miserable storm come through and it ripped the cover off his grill and then generated so much force that it caused the lid to flip open. When that happened it sheered off the hinges that connect the lid to the rest of the grill. He called up asking how much a replacement lid after explaining the situation...they sent him a new one saying "sounds like a material defect". Shipped it to his house for free and no money out of pocket.

That's why they cost so much.

I personally find the tastes of grills a bit on the "metallic" side of things. So I prefer to eat the food that comes from them instead of the actual grill.

You would think that.

A little light on the feet, are we? Enjoy your veggie burgers, Tinkerbelle!

Two years old? If its in good shape the answer is yes. 3 burner is genesis. I've had mine for 10 years. Still in good shape and I use it a lot, year round.

If it's in good condition...jump on it...(and if she's not bad...jump on her too!) 😛

$200 for a Weber gas grill in good condition is a steal. Just check it carefully to be sure it's not rusted out or has gas leaks.
