If you don't intend to game or do anything media intensive then it should more than satisfy. The cheapest the Special Edition goes for configured on HP's site is $1000 so if your getting it for $850 then I'd say it's a sound deal.

The hard drive is slow, as is the processor, the res is too low for the screen size. But these are all my opinion. I have however heard really great things about HP lately, so if that is the price you are looking to pay, and that is the screen size you want, then sure get it. But if you were to provide a little more information concerning what you plan on doing with the laptop, if you are willing to spend any more money, and other such things, then maybe other options can be cooked up for you.

That is the fastest full voltage Core 2 Duo that they sell. So yes, compared to anything else at 1.5GHz, it will be faster, but compared to the fact that most of the systems being sold today are 1.83GHz or higher, 1.5 is a little slow.

Do you have in mind an ideal amount of money that you would like to spend? That would at least give you an idea of what you can and cannot have.

1.5Ghz is slow? 1.7 is really slow??? Anyway 1.5Ghz core 2 duo is not bad deal depend on what you want to do with this laptop? And I see it comes with 2GB and bigger 200GB hard drive better than some of notebooks come with 1GB and 80GB HD.
