HERE

Third one down 4 3/4 barrel, supposed to be the best balanced gun around, 45LC, I love it. Why shouldn't I get it? I want to add to the long gun collection. Rem 700 in 7mag, browning BAR in 270, Marlin M1894 in 44mag, two browning a5's in 12ga. I love the way it looks, dont you guys?

I have a long gun for anything I would ever hunt. Exceptttt. I am getting a savage 12bvss in 22-250 for varminting, that takes care of the whole caliber range except the BIG magnums. Like 308 lapua 444 marlin and the nitro expresses. Plus people get wierd ideas in there head about you when you carry an ar-15 around. I personally LOVE my BAR Safari. SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! You guys need to go hold a bar, now.

Oh thats sooo wayyy to long. Thats what rifles are for. Its about balance and feel. A 43'4 barrel gets darn niced sized groups at 50 yards free handed.

I had a Ruger Vaquero with a 5" or so barrel and I bought it because I thought it would be cool to own a traditional "how the west was won" type six shooter in the traditional 45 Long Colt caliber but truth be told I hardly ever shot it. It wasn't very accurate, had horrible sights and didn't pack much punch for such a large caliber. If I had bought it in .44 Magnum I may have kept it. I sold it off after a couple years and bought a .44 Magnum (S&W) a few years later. I love the .44 Smith and I don't think I'll ever get rid of it.

Edit-The Smith & Wesson has an 8" barrel and I love it! I particularly love going to the range and putting every shot in the center ring at 25 yards while the guy next to me with the Desert Eagle .50AE is all over the target at 15 yards out. I pretty much need two hands to shoot accurately but it is very accurate. Love the 8" barrel!

Nice guns...

When I was on a trip to Dallas a few years ago for work, there was a big dinner at some BBQ place. They had a quick draw contest there.

I decided to give it a whirl.... they held a small device to your ear, and when you heard the beep, you were supposed to draw the weapon and fire. The device would measure your reaction time (I'm guessing by the sound of the blank detonating)

Most people were coming in between half a second and a full second. It's not easy to pull the gun out, uncock the hammer with your thumb and squeeze the trigger.

I wound up with the lowest score... .37 on my first attempt (Not bad). The guy (hired entertainment) who was teaching people the quick draw only got .27! I noticed the gun he used had a much shorter barrel though (making it easier for him to clear the holster and fire).

I used to look through some old time gun magazines, and you could get kits to build a single action old-west gun. I wonder how good those kits are.

I really dug the movie Tombstone (great flick, historical inacurracies aside) and thought about buying a old west revolver.

As an aside, since you had mentioned balanced revolvers... apparently Sammy Davis Jr was quite the gunslinger. He was very adept at the showy spinning gun tricks.

My granddad used to have a leather belt and a .38 revolver. The belt went around the waist, but the gun hung really low on the hip. Old school  It was a fantastic sidearm. He had a 5.5" barrel though.

 go for it.
