I currently have a Miradex 19' flat monitor. It is pretty generic, but it was affordable. The claim was that it has a diamondtron tube in it. It does 1280x 1024 at 85 and 1600x1200 @ 75. Maybe others with the same monitor can chime in about it. I have never had a true name brand monitor so I cant exactly rate it well. It works. I have the option of switchhing to the samsung for no case, even trade. What do you think? Will i be happier with it?

*Edit* My current monitor is an Asev AT1099a .25 AG Diamaondtron

The 753df are very nice. I have 2. I don't see why 955df wouldn't be :D

Anyone here use graphics programs? Is there another monitor I should be looking for in the same price range as the Samsung?

it is a nice monitor for the money. however, 1600 x 1200 is not as clear as i would like it to be, and towards the vertical edges of the screen, the pixels seem to spread out more. but for the money, you won't get a better monitor.

It's a highly rated monitor so you should be fine.

Make sure to buy it from the Gateway Accessory store where they are offering $50 off $200.

I'm on one right now...and while I'm not an expert monitor reviewer I would definitely say it has served me very well.

If you're into graphics work where color and clarity are an issue, I would recommend staying away from the 955 series. (No personal experience other than research and two hours spent at Best Buy/CompUSA staring at one.) Check out the Viewsonic A90f, (NOT A90). Other than that, your budget's gonna have to grow a little and go with the 900nf. I'm sure there's others, but that's the conclusion I reached after about 3 weeks of research before I bought mine. (the a90f)

I have my 955df set to 1024 x 768....that's 100hz refresh rate...I can't even stand with 85hz...so... I have no complain, I am planning to keep this monitor for a very long time.

Heh, I've got a 17" POS right now running at 1280x1024 at 65hz, and honestly it aint that bad. So I went ahead and took the plunge and bough the Samsung 955DF for $193.95 shipped, which is a remarkable price right now for the monitor. Saved me $70 instead of buying it from Dell. I've put this in 2 systems I've built for relatives, and have had no problems with it, and quality was pretty good.
