Should I buy this old car (VW Rabbit GTi) ???

I just sold my old one, and never got it on the road even. This one is so freaking clean it blows my mind. Only 55K miles on a car that is almost 20 years old! It has been garage kept and the paint is still shiney. I belive the mileage is real too, but will check it for sure. The guy wants $2500 for it, and might drop it to 2K. If he does, I am all over it. Even though I have a car already and don't need another. You never see clean Bunnies on the East Coast and this is the cleanest one I have even seen outside of a car show or GTG.

Go for it, but do yourself a favor and replace the iginition module and resistor before taking it on any long trips.

Rabbit or Golf? I had an 86 Golf GTI and loved it. When I got it used (in 89) it had 60K miles on it and gave me a bunch of problems but it was still a fun car to drive.

Quite possibly. What's the HP In those old things? Rather unique vehicle. Look nice too if it's among the somewhat newer ones. Golf GTI that is. WHen I was 16 9 years ago I use to dream about owning one of these older Golf GTIs.

Its an 84 the last year they made the Rabbits.

I can't afford 2 cars, so I would have to sell the Scirocco (87 8v) and I just modded it to right where I want it. Granted, all the mods can fit on the rabbit, this is the rub: my rocco was made in Germany as all roccs were, but the rabbit was made in PA, and they were not built as well. The scirocco still feels tight after 150k miles and rabbit tend to feel softer and rattle more. They even used self tapping screws instead of nuts and bolts to keep the body on the rabbits. The point is, I wanna be better off after I get the car than I am now.

Believe it or not, the 108 hp model was pretty zippy, the light wieght of the vehicle with the proper transmission gearing made them feel alot faster than they really were.

The original Pocket Rocket 🙂

(Don't get me wrong, I am no big fan of water cooled Vw's 😉)

Sciroccos are pretty rare. Well, maybe Rabbit GTis are also. I'd keep both if I had room (and I were you).

I wanna keep both too, but that means double insurance. My Scirocco is clean too, w/a 2 in TechTonics exhaust, Euro lights, GTI wheels, Momo streering wheel, K&N filter. 16V modded tails (black stripes), and 2 front stress braces. I love that car.

Thats what I wanna do, if he lowers the price to 2Gs. The car is immaculate, and needs only a windsheild.

too bad u cant afford to keep both 🙁

my friend's moms boyfriend got his racco back from ABD and from what i hear it's pretty freakin killer.. i wanna see it run! oh and my freind's 8v mk2 gti is barely working lol but i think he's getting a new one 🙂 his brother also has a g60 corrado but it was in a bad accident a few days ago 🙁

I have one of these as well, only the engine is seized. 🙁

I keep meaning to yank it and either rebuild or replace, but I just don't have the equipment or space, currently. 🙁

Stupid Rabbit has a new clutch and new front suspension.
