I completely understand wanting nice clothes. I have several pairs of $200+ jeans, $100+ shirts, etc. I also have several other very nice things but most people aren't made aware of it. Anyone who has to brag about shit like this is a little pathetic and doesn't really have money... they are the thirty-thousand-dollar millionaires.

Also, if JMapleton has so much money, why even ponder whether or not to get $200 jeans, especially when they are on sale? My wife bought me 3 or 4 pairs of Rock and Republic jeans without asking anyone about it. Hell, I bought a $70K summer car without asking anyone on a message board or even my wife, really.

My thought is that this clown doesn't really have much money otherwise he wouldn't need to seek validation. Chump.

Yet you are here telling us all about your 1K jean purchase and 70K car. Chump.

PS: Rock and Republic went out when Affliction did. Chump.

To give context. My jean purchase wasn't 1K nor is it really worth mentioning. I don't think anyone on the internet cares about what my ass sits in. Anyone who feels the need to mention their jeans cost $200, state they are wealthy, then ponder whether or not to buy more is not wealthy.

I am not wealthy by my standards and purchased a nice car without blasting it all over and this "wealthy" chump needs to ask if he should buy some $200 jeans?

I'm not going to debate who is right or who is wrong, but there's a market out there for everyone.

I understand that long reply (or rant), but that doesn't apply to everyone. I usually buy Diesel jeans for $200+ and my clothing is on the expensive side, but I don't get into debt because of it. In fact, I have no debt besides a mortgage.

So, if you're comfortable buying $20 jeans, that's okay. There IS a difference between upper-tier brands and $20 shelf ones. It might not be a $180 difference, but the quality and fit is enough for some to buy it.

BTW, I don't buy half of what some guys are arguing here. Looks do matter to virtually everyone. The men who are complaining about expensive clothes and being "materialistic" are the same guys who drool over Jessica Alba rather than Rosie O'Donnell.

What I think is funny is the dudes bragging how they don't buy expensive jeans but are able to "let" their wives stay home all day, have probably had quite a few pairs of expensive demin on their bedroom, living room and kitchen floors at 30 min intervals.

OP, check out this brand:
http://www.bonobos.com/store/cat/pants/fabric/

These pants are awesome and they have been hemmed to fit the tall, slender body type.

Im sure half of ATOT will hate on these pants tho, since they are *GASP* more than $100!

First off, the OP was about jeans. Your link references chinos and dress pants. I can completely justify spending some good money on those, luckily my work attire is jeans and polos and $20-40 wranglers/levi's work for me.

I base all my clothing purchases on how successful their pitchman is too. AWESOME!

But it's Mike Rowe!!! And you are correct, he is AWESOME!

Just got back from shopping. I made an investment in a J Crew dress shirt. I feel twenty years younger. Looks like a million bucks with my BDU slacks.

I can appreciate nice jeans and unlike others, I won't bash you on spending more than $30 for a pair. However, I have to ask, why Sevens? Even in the world premium denim for the uninformed, they are very last year. Or to be more accurate, very 5 years ago. It's the equivalent of someone looking to buy "nice" set of kitchen knives nowadays and they go buy a Wusthof or Henckels set. Sure, they were all the rage in the 90's but now they suck. What's worse about them, and similarly Sevens, is even people who are only moderately into designer denim, but too lazy to really research it, have moved on from Sevens.

More likely the people that desire these jeans are pathetic shallow people with so little personality that they would never get laid without these fishing lures fashion designers have created for them.

Then give me an alternative besides those Japanese biker jeans people on here rant about, which I've never heard of and have never seen anyone wear before.

Sevens are awesome because of their constant new designs. Every 6 months or so they come out with completely new designs and themes, remaking all of their jeans over and over. It's like you get to collect all the different designs. Plus they fit better than any jean I've worn.

Not true. Seeing quality and workmanship of the highest caliber and holding it in your hands is of value.

oh jeez man. You want to buy denim every 6 months? I know I dont. I'm picking up a pair of the iron heart dc4001 next week. Yes they are $400 but I wont be buying more denim for atleast 3 more years. And in that time they will look great.

I'm rocking a pair of Flatheads 310 right now. They probably have 2 1/2 years in them and look wonderful.

If you want designer stuff that isnt near the quality of true selvedge denim then fine but people will rag on you for being tied to a tag vs tied to quality. In my life quality matters most. Keep the tags.

Oh great, another Iron Heart mentioning. I'm not a Japanese Biker. I'm a modern tech-nerd and I like my dress to reflect it.

Those Iron Hearts, I bet they're awesome quality and last a long time. But they look like Wranglers. Clothing shouldn't be 100% about quality and utility, otherwise we'd all dress in some robo suits that never need repair. It's a balance of quality and looks. If I wanted to look ordinary, I'd wear ordinary jeans. 7 makes unique looking jeans with above average quality.

I'm not a diesel mechanic, I don't need bullet proof jeans. I work at an internet company and I drive a Scion, I need some tight, hip jeans.

*shrug* I wear Old Navy jeans that I buy on sale. Have 4 pairs of them. They're pretty comfortable and affordable.

The "style" nowadays seems to be wearing really tight jeans. Not having any of that shit.
