Should I buy another 512MB of RAM?

I've got a little extra money and I'm looking for a quick performance improvement. I currently have 512MB of Samsung PC2700 RAM on a Giga-byte 7VRXP motherboard and I'm using Windows XP Pro. I use Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and I play Counter-Strike all the time. I also play some other games every once in a while, but it's mostly counter-strike. So do you think it's worth it? Thanks.

Nobody needs 1GB of ram unless they're running a really heavily used server. It won't help your performance at all.

Its worth giving a look at quicker hard drives and perhaps a new processer, as those are cheap.

Your computers speed is based on many things, like a good relay team, theres a couple of players that are quick. One part lags, everything lags. CPU, ram speed, hd speed, bus speed.

Ok, I currently have an AMD Athlon 1800+ CPU and two Maxtor D740X (I can't remember if that's the right model number) 40GB drives. The hard drives are 7200 RPM and they are not set up in any RAID configuration. Now I'm thinking about upgrading to another AMD CPU, but I'm not sure which one yet. Thanks for the help so far! I'm glad I asked before I bought the RAM.

There's not alot of performance to be gained from going to something like an XP2200, at least for what your doing. Counterstrike isn't really stressing your system, and nor is anything else you do.

What kind of video card do you have? That would most likely give you alot more performance in counterstrike, depending on what card you have now of course.
