Should I Buy A Used 7950/7970 That Was Used For Mining

On ebay, I see a 7950 going for $115 and a 7970 going for $145. I am buying a 1440p monitor, so I will crossfire the two. I dont think I could trust a card that has been used for mining, though. Should I buy the used card, or just buy a new 780?

There is a significant price difference between a used 7-series Radeon and a new 780, so it really depends on your finances if this risk makes sense or not.

That being said, I previously bought a used R9 290 for $260 that had been a mining card, and I didn't have any issues with it. I did end up selling because the reference cooling is just a bit louder than I wanted, but the card itself was fine. Totally worth the risk in my case.

Either way I wouldn't buy a GTX 780 until the GTX 980 is launched and we know pricing and performance on the new card to see how viable the GTX 780 will be going forward.

Speaking as someone who owned a bunch of 6950's and mined for several years, the only thing that ever went wrong with the cards was the fans giving out.
