I did that once. It took a long time and stressed me out. Not to mention the copyright laws I was breaking. Not to mention the weird looks I got in class with my "homemade" version of the textbook, lol. Though I saved a couple hundred bucks. I think you should just buy the textbooks, sell them when you are done for whatever nickels you can get, and cut costs elsewhere.

I suggest before you worry about your books for college, you learn how to use there, their, and they're correctly.

is that $90 used or new? and have you looked off-campus for bookstores that sell it cheaper?

have fun.. gonna be a PITA to scan.. be very careful not to mess up the binding if you want to get a full refund..

photocopy it.

73pages @ 5c = $3.65
Time spent photocopying=1hr=$20
Commuting to Kinko's=30min=$10
total=33.65

savings ~ 90-35 = $55

Assuming you make $20/hr or your time is worth that.

In this specific case, dont buy it.

is it easier to photocopy than to scan?

easier, probably. Just put under cover, put your money in and hit copy. It will be alot faster! Just watch you rback because the people at the end of the line are gonna kill you for hogging the machine.

ya ive photocopied books before, was well worth it... i don't want to do it again though, so i thought maybe scannin would be better in the safety of the home....

i just don't have experience with scanning.

i think i may buy an epson scanner anyway, need them for the rebates:) and see if it's to time consuming to do the pages...

oh well, damn books gunna cost me over 400:(

just a thought about scanning:
I have also photocopied books before and the reason for that was that i wanted a hardcopy of the book. Even if you have your laptop(assumption that you wont be printing that on your home printer) with you it is still better to photocopy it.
