should I buy a PS Vita?

Their core market though is still children. Which is a great spot for them to be in since they're a recognized family friendly brand. Smartphones and tablets haven't cannibalized sales in that demographic yet. Even so, I don't think the 3DS has sold as well as the DS. They lost the adult casual market entirely.

I don't think it will either. Sure there's a ton of games but who wants to keep hearing "mommy can you buy me more coins in this game?" every 5 minutes and have to drop $50 just to get anywhere. A lot of people I know with kids are really careful about in app purchases. They'd rather buy a $40 3DS game that they never have to buy extra stuff for than to buy a $.99 game that they have to keep putting money into or reach a brick wall.

The Vita is technically the stronger product. It is new handy outclasses the 3DS not only in graphical output, but also in touch screen technology, controls, button layout, user interface design and, perhaps most importantly, game selection at launch.
