I have my daughters computer a Socket A Sempron 2800 and the motherbaord just died on me, should I just replace the mother board or should I get a new better CPU to ? If so what should I Get that won't cost me alot?

check availability (of brand-new Socket A) motherboards and their prices. if you find that they are too expensive for the amount of power they give you (some old devices cost almost as much as current technology), get a new Mobo+CPU. the same logic applies if you realize that the Mobo you need is hard to find.

I always use this as an excuse to build a new System.

Just hand mine down, part out the bad one, and make a new one for myself 🙂

if sempron 2800+ is fast enough for you, then just the mobo. You should be able to find one for like $70.

I don't think you can get a significantly faster CPU+mobo combo unless you spend like 2x as much as a mobo alone could cost.
