Should I buy a new floppy drive?

if you need to format it makes it much easier

haven't used mine in monthes. When I formatted I just boot from the WinXP cd.

booting from cdrom makes it next to useless. i broke mine long ago, i'll live🙂

Yea ... my new laptop came w/o a floppy. i am going to dual boot with rh and windows.
if anything should go wrong, i wonder if i can boot off the cdrom and do a fdisk /mbr

of course you can, all modern computers/motherboards will boot off of the CD, not to mention USB drives and other option

if you have a problem, just make a bootable CD with whatever utilities you need on it

To this point I've survived without one. Yeah, I've just booted off the CD-ROM.

you can even boot off usb keychain drives on even the cheapest ecs m/b🙂
