Should I buy a copy of Far Cry?

A fun challenging game. I know that there was/is a patch to allow quick saving but I think it is more of a challenge with checkpoint saving.
 
I accidently voted a 1, I meant to vote on the top poll first, but I guess I clicked the bottom one.... us damn Floridians don't know how to vote 🙂.

I give the game about a 9/10.
 
9 because the ending was weak and it's somewhat buggy... still, overall it's very, very worth buying.
 
Yeah, great game. Just picked it up myself, it's dropped to $34 online. You need a decent machine to crank all the eye candy though.

Ah dont worry, I have a 2 GHZ celeron laptop, with a 16 meg Mobility Radeon! 😉

Crashes on the splash screen for me every time I try to load it, so I didn't vote even though I'd like to give it a 1. 😛

Never played the game, but NFS:U did that for me, i downloaded the latest patch, and it worked rigth away

Did you get the 1.1 patch? Are you running a Nvidia card by chance? The patch had a lot crash issues that were related to certain Nvidia cards listed in the readme.

I downloaded the only patch available for it, no joy. 🙁

It came w/ my video card though, so I'm not that bummed out about it.
 
Have you tried different resolutions? Updated display drivers?

Sometimes; rarely, a no cd crack would work for me, it worked for GTA-vice city if i remember right

That's actually a good idea. If it's crashing @ the splash screen, it's probably related to the CD check. There is a no cd fix for it. Worht a try...

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll have to give them a try.

Gonna have to wait until I feel like going through the 5-cd install again, though. 😉
