My 2Gb card lasts only about 440 pictures compared to my S60 and 1Gb card which holds about 650 pictures.

I would recommend getting a high-speed card. The 20D actually makes good use of the fast write speed.

Those are all fine lenses! I would not throw them away!!!

Just buy an 20D and then add a wide angle EFS lens, like the 17-85 or 10-22.

I am a proud owner of a 20D but my only lens at the moment is the 17-85.

My planned lens collection is the following:

EFS 17-85 IS USM (walkaround)
EFS 10-22 (super wide angle)
Sigma 30mm F1.4 (prime)
EF 24-70 L
EF 70-200 L IS.

I have the 17-85 and my next two will be the 10-22 and Sigma 30mm. Those two L lenses cost about $3K, so I'll have to save my pennies for those.

don't worry...I won't be throwing out those lenses...it will just that I will have to buy at least one to add to get the wide end back.

Where can you find the 10-22 EFS? I've looked and couldn't find it at B&H...is it not out yet?

Here you go.

Thanks...don't know how I missed that. Pricey...would have thought it would be a little cheaper since it is not L glass...oh well. It really would be more appropriate for me than teh 17-40 though. Any reviews you know out for this lens?

Tons of personal reviews over at the DPreview.com forums. Many compare it to the 17-40L. It's a high quality lens!

Edit: I bought two 1GB SanDisk Ultra II cards and they work great.

Get the 20D. I think you'll be thrilled with it. Even with that collection of glass, you might as well spend the extra 100 and get the kit lens too. It's surprisingly good and an unbelievable deal at that price.

Thanks. The 10-22mm pics are nice...but I'm thinking of holding off on a lens until I get the 20D...am happy with it...and start missing that wide range.

Still is expensive...but a lot easier to swallow.

Also, as for ScanDisk and Lexar...who makes the better CF cards? The ScanDisk seem to claim higher transfer speeds on similarly priced cards...but I know how company's are very capable of inflating their specs for marketing reasons.

Eww a Canon thread.

Go for the 20D. You have some nice glass so it wouldn't make sense to switch brands. Biggest knock on digital is that it doesn't have the same dynamic range as film. But if you're careful about your composition (or don't mind blowing highlights) then you should be ok.

As far as printing goes, Costco is great for the price. Only $2 for 8x12 and $3 for 12x18, 1 hour. I'd stick with Sandisk for memory. Heard too many horror stories of the Lexar 80x stuff randomly not being recognized.

Another vote for SanDisk!

Hmmm...I thought I had actually heard the opposite about dynamic range...but it might have been in reference to slide film and not negative film...or maybe I am just mistaking something completely.

I unfortunately do not have a Costco nearby (SC).

Update 5-25-2005 I purchased the camera!!! I can't wait till it comes in. I held off on buying a lens with it...at least for now.

Can't wait to start shooting with it. I ordered it from B&H today...should get it in by Monday.

I have a feeling I will be buying a 10-22 very soon....
