Should I buy a 1700+, or an 1800+?

I'd like some opinions on my current situation. I plan on buying a a new CPU very soon, and I can't decide between the Athlon XP 1700+ and 1800+. Newegg's prices right now list them at $109 and $123 with free shipping. I'll probably be using AMEX to pricematch. Pricewatch has prices at $96 and $111 right now, and I would guess that in in the next 60 days, those two prices will be even closer together.

My main problem is that I don't know the overclocking capabilities of the processors. I don't plan on overclocking, so the extra stock speed means nothing to me, but in 6 months, I'll probably end up putting the CPU up for sale in the For Sale/Trade forum. When that time comes, if the 1700+ is going to be more desirable, I'll buy it now.

Well...this ended up being a really long question of which CPU is going to be more in demand in six months...any opinions are welcome. I also know there have to still be sites out there that list people's overclocking success with different CPUs, I just haven't been able to find them.

Thanks,

I really doubt there will be much difference in what you can sell them for in 6 months. So I wouldn't worry about that. If you are not planning on OC'ing just decide if the extra Mhz is worth the extra money. I bought the 1700 about 6 weeks ago. At that time, the 1600 was $115, the 1700 was $123, and the 1800 was like $160. I decided going from the 1600 to the 1700 was worth another $8, but going to the 1800 wasn't worth another $37. IMO it's always a better value to go 1 or 2 steps below the top of the line. I guess if it's only a $15 difference, I'd say go with the 1800.
