should i bother getting more credit cards in my name?

I'm a college student and the only credit card i have is the American Express Blue for students with a credit limit of only 800 bucks.

I also have a bank of america debit card.

I keep getting these pre-approval mails constantly... most of them are not of my interest and I throw them away without even opening the mail until.. but now I'm thinking it wouldn't hurt to have an extra CC or two.


what do you guys think?

should i just stick with the one i have and build credit with that? I have no use for an extra credit card i suppose/

I would grab a Visa or Mastercard just in case the Amex isn't accepted.

max of 2-3 is good. after that i think its just too much of a pain. I have 2 right now - rarely ever use them - mostly only if I buy stuff online.

id get 1 more tops, and hold it aside ONLY if an emergency of some sort comes up and the first card cant cover it

i have 2 cards, one has yet to be used (emergency purposes) and the other i use for general things, internet purchases and such....i had a large balance on it i just paid off and have been using my checkcard more than anything
