You should ask your friend why they were roughing him up, and who were they to find out if they were dangerous. What did you friend do to get into the mess?

I wouldn't be worried, but caution would be important right now. You goofed up because of not being able to smooth talk your way out of the car one if you realized it right there.

Maybe a wireless camera would help give you an advantage, place it on top of your roof or something.

They're just trying to scare the crap out of you. It's not worth the risk to seriously assault you, so they're instead just trying to intimidate you such that you don't do it again. They weren't confirming where you live. They could have done that more discretely. They were sending you a "I know where you live" signal in a fashion that they can deny actually threatening you. Unfortunately, it looks like it worked, and you probably wouldn't help another friend if something similar happened again. :(

Yes to everything in this post. Unless you're leaving out other details then I'll bet that just a "brush up" isn't worth them wasting any time or resources on you. If it's a "Russian Mafia" group then they've got bigger fish to fry.

So what exactly did you do to help your "friend" out?

Idiots have killed for less in the downtown Torona clubscene. Good luck!

Ya, seriously, buying a gun for "hunting" isn't the problem. The closest place I know is the Bass Pro Mills shop at Vaughan Mills. Problem is that self-defence law thing. You could probably get away with breaking some knee caps though with a blunt weapon. How's your swing?

This makes little sense. If it truly was just a chance encounter that started all this, they can already be sure he won't do it again. Tracking him down anyway implies that they have more serious intentions because simple intimidation serves no purpose.

Getting your ass kicked only hurts for a couple of days. Being a pussy hurts for a life time.
Even if you get your bones broken or end up partially paralyzed? Maybe some brain damage from getting your head banged onto the sidewalk?

In Canada I cant buy a gun, I'm not even allowed to defend my self.

Don't be stupid. There are self defence laws in Canada. They are not as liberal (lol...) as they are in the US, but you can definitely defend yourself.

You are also free to own many types of firearms in Canada, and yes you can use them for self defence within your home in the right circumstances.

Don't spread wrong info.

why didn't you call the cops?

pretty useless in this situation.

OP: some guys showed up and asked if they had the right address. I felt threatened.

cops: OK....so did they threaten you?
OP: no, not really. But I think they did.

OP probably has a legitimate case, but cops hands are tied by law. They essentially can not and will not do anything unless a law has been broken. They will, however, be useful if and after the OP has been maimed or killed.

It was a group of russian guys, I suppose they followed me here. And to make sure it was my house instead of someone I was visiting they knocked on it a couple of days later to see.

Congrats you just met your killer. Typical Russian mob tactics. They send the guy they got to hurt you to make sure what you look like and where you live. One day you will feel cold steal to the back of your head and then light out------- worst case scenario if you really pissed them off or hurt one of them:eek:. Best case scenario you are getting into your car or getting out you hear a thump and a sharp pain in your knee. This will bring you to the ground then you will get a few more shots to your kneecaps with a baseball bat, than a kick to the face and then light out. Call the cops.
A friend of mine parked in some Russian guys parking space Russian ran out told him to move he told him to go screw himself. About a week later a Russian guy came to his door asking him if he has a motorcycle for sale, no wrong house OK thanks. A month later the baseball bat scenario I described above happened to him. Total damage 2 broken kneecaps, concussion, and 5 missing teeth.

Congrats. You just met your killer.

Typical Russian mob tactics. They send out the guy they hired to hurt you; just to be sure what you look like and where you live.

Worst case scenario:

About a week later, a Russian guy came to his door asking him if he has a motorcycle for sale. "No? Wrong house? OK, thanks." A month later the baseball bat scenario happened to him. Total damage: 2 broken kneecaps, concussion, and 5 missing teeth.

Tried to make that more readable for you.

I beat up a neighbor a couple of years ago. About 10 minutes after that there was a loud knock at my door. I opened the door expecting to see my neighbor but instead it was his skinhead friend. Closely shaved head, no shirt, buff and tatted up. My first thought was that I was about to get my ass kicked.

Either the guy wasn't there to whip me (couldn't tell that by his stance/attitude) or by stepping to him he realized I wouldn't be an easy target. We didn't fight and he ended up making excuses for his friend.

I learned long ago that if there is trouble, you just have to step up. Cowering or acting like you are afraid will get you beat down. Getting your ass kicked only hurts for a couple of days. Being a pussy hurts for a life time.

Standing up only works to a point. Eventually someone will decide (correctly or incorrectly) that you are too dangerous and need to be dealt with permanently. Balance in all things, especially force.

Buy a 12 gauge with slug shells. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6

Russians are fucked up. Don't mess with them. I used to work with this Russian dude and well all used to kid around with one another but he would flip out and throw people in headlocks and twist their arms behind their backs. Total nutjob but we thought it was all harmless.

One day I was messing around with him all day and he was getting pissed. He comes up to me at the end of the day and is like, "Tonight, we take it cab. I show you something and you never make fun of me again." I was just like WTF?

I never went with him but would have probably killed me or something. That or he was going to take me for a beer. Who the fuck knows.

Funny story though. Once he was wiping sweat off his head with a handkerchief and I was like, "Hey man, put your cumrag away at work." He flips the out and throws me in a wrestling pose and pulls my arm back as far as it goes without breaking. I'm like, "Dude W-T-F!" and he's just like "WHAT YOU SAID TO ME?!?" So I repeat what I said and he lets me go. He asks, "What is this 'cumrag'". So I explained to him what a cumrag is and he just laughs -- "Oh, I thought you call me 'comrade', I am not fucking communist".

TL;DR: Don't mess with Russians.

Be the first one to make that choice.
