Just bought an 05 maxim se (5sp auto), 57k miles. So there's 2k left on the factory warranty and I want to get this fixed if there might be a real problem.
Originally noticed that it shifts a little hard on 1-2 and 2-3 most of the time, and the downshift from 2-1 when slowing down can also be pretty strong and bumpy.
When accelerating slowly/moderately, during shifts the revs rise 200 or so rpm before they drop from the upshift. Is this normal or is this the tranny slipping? It doesn't do it on wot or anything.
I got the tranny fluid drained filled yesterday as it was due at 60k, and it was due. The old fluid was brown and smelled burnt.
I took it for a drive with the mechanic at the dealer and of course it didn't display any of the things I was noticing.
Today I noticed something particularly disturbing. After driving 30 min to work, I pulled into a space. I put it in reverse to straighten (the spot is also sloped up a bit) and it didn't shift for about 2-3 secs, then it roughly shifted into r and shook the car. Same thing whn shifting back into - noticible engagement delay, then a hard bump before creeping forward.
What do you guys think?
