Should I be alarmed at my 6600gt temps??

I have a giga-byte 6600gt PCIE video card. I was starting to get artifacts in game tonight (EVE) and the image would kinda flicker every now and then. I exited out and checked the temp. 150 degrees accoding to the Ntune Monitor. I don't know how accurate this is, but should I be worried??
Was running @ x8 AA with stock speeds and voltages.

Thats pretty hot, the shut down temp on mine is 145c. I wouldn't run it untill you find the problem. Start with the fan, if thats working and not pluged with dust. Check the heatsink, be sure it's tight to the gpu.

Edit: The answer to your question is, YES!

My idle temps are not falling below 120. The fan is working and there is no dust in the heatsink. I already checked to see if the fan is operating correctly. Brand new card also.
I may need to send it back! :disgust:

I think that thing would be dead if it was really at 150C. But in anycase something is screwed up. I would suggest a RMA.

Ya something is flubbed. I ran 3dmark05 just to see what kinda temps it would register. When everything was done, the Ntune Monitor said 170+
Bullcrap I say. It did even feel warm (held my hand near it). My ram feels hotter than what the vid card does.
It seems the ntune monitor isn't calibrated well

it should be 170Fahrenheit not celcius because ur card would have burnt up running at that temp....just check to make sure again....
170F converts to around 75C and 120F about 48C which are correct temperatures!!

In that case the temps are fine. Though if you say you see artifacts then I donno what to tell you.

Ya that's probably what it is.. And those temps are PERFECTLY fine..

My 6800GT used to get up into the high 80's..

Yes it is Fahrenheit and not celcius. I sill thought this was a little warm since the Nvidia drivers are defaulted to throttle the card @ 145 F.
But if this is everyone elses standard temp, I won't think anything more of it.
