I want to use my Kazaa Lite but I am worried with all the stuff going around. I also, have Versizon DSL as my provider and they have a hand in helping the RIAA. I dont share my files with people, but should I be afraid of downloading?

Also, I am using and older version of Kazaa lite, do the newer versions of kazaa lite or kazaa have any updated security devices that will help? Thanks.

No you dont have to be afriad, unless you DL loads and loads of illegal stuff then they aint going to be bothered about you.
I`d reccommend getting the latest version anyway, its better & slightly faster.
May i suggest Kazaa Lite? Its the same as normal Kazaa, but without all of the Advertisements and Spyware that it installs.

So i am fretting for no reason?

Do you think that they will have an influence on FTP if I was to upload and download?

Dont worry about it. Seriously, stop being paranoid. Theyve probably got bigger fish to fry than ppl who actually use kazaa and the likes for what its ment for.

If you mean can they put some sort of law on personal FTP`s, then no, they cant. They might ask ISPs to prevent things like MP3s and Video files from being uploaded to them, but if its a FTP ran off your own computer, then theres sod all that they can do.

Obviously the RIAA's campaign is working because a lot of people are freaking out about file sharing, but I read somewhere that MORE people are actually on Kazaa now, probably in defiance against the RIAA. I wouldn't worry too much about it though. Besides, it's not like you're downloading any illegal files right? ;)

Funny thing is, I'll download songs on WinMX, and decide if I want the entire CD or not. I don't bother with the "previews" at places like Amazon, because some of them don't even play any vocals from the song - the preview file just plays the instrumentals at the beginning of the song, so you never actually hear any lyrics. Sort of a handy try-before-you-buy system, among other things. I have WinMX available to share videocard drivers presently.:)

You make it sound like Verizon is WILLINGLY assisting the RIAA, when they were dragged kicking and screaming into court, trying to protect their users.

There is going to be a lot of conflict between IP holders and ISPs - the IP folk want to protect all the stuff being stolen (it's not just greed, kids, grow up) and the ISPs need to keep their customers happy and throwing them overboard is no way to stay in business, is it?
