Should I attempt Win2k on a Celeron 300 w/ 64MB ram?

I'm leaving the country for 4 months, and I just had to do a clean install on my moms computer and she and my sister managed to hose it in less than a month.

I'm tempted to put win2k on with some AV software and just give them the best chance of not fscking it up while i'm gone.

What do you think? It's that or Win98 SE

Edit:

I apologize, it's a Celeron 300 w/ 64 MB ram

The minimum specs for Win2000 Pro are a Pentium 133 and 32mb or Ram, so it'll work. It won't be the fastest, but it'll work.

You might want to install Mozilla Firefox or some alternate browser to Internet Exploder on there. Also make them aware of using something like Ad-Aware SE, to help combat any spyware.

Make them Power Users on the system (or just Users if you're really worried), which would lock them down further from making any (accidental) mistakes.

You really should try to have 128 mb, if not it will work ok, but it will be a little slower than w98se.

It has been my experience that without good avg and adware/spybot and running/updating them, it does not take long before they all get hosed up, regardless of the operating system.
