Should I apply for a Best Buy credit card?

Other than the possibility of being arrested for price matching and their idiot salespeople don't know anything about their products. Are there any reasons I shouldn't?

I'll receive a free $25 Best Buy gift card, 0% APR until January 2003 and will probably be included on their mailing list to get those nifty coupons.

I applied and received a Best Buy credit card about a year ago. They gave me a semi-decent limit for a 20 year old, but I never used the credit card. As a matter of fact I went through and cancelled all of my credit cards except two because I did not like the idea of trying to keep track of several bills. I currently have two credit cards and one of them serves as a backup only.

If you feel as though you can afford having another credit card, then go for it. Just remember that with more credit available the deeper the whole you can dig.

I'm struggling with my CC debt right now. BBuy is one of them. If you can HONESTLY pay off whatever you charge when you get the bill, then there is no reason not to.

I was doing that for a few months until one day I got really depressed (long story) and went and bought $400 worth of DVDs and about $100 worth of CDs. Nice stuff, but I couldn't pay the bill off. At 19% interest, it's no joke. I continued charging and now I owe them about $2K. Oh well, you can't take it with you, right?

I've had a Best Buy card for years and I have never received any coupons. Are you talking about a Best Buy sponsered Visa/MC, or the Best Buy store card? I use mine whenever they have 12 years SAC offers. Why pay today when you can spread the payments out over a year?

The APR sucks, unless you get in on the "X days 0% financing" deals. If you are disciplined enough to avoid their normal high-interest... Then go for it.

If you think you are going to end up carrying a balance, then don't.

ROTFLMAO Totally true.

I wouldn't carry a balance on it and I'm doing it primarily to get the free $25 BB gift card, the introductory 0% APR until January 2003 and to get on their mailing list to they hopefully start sending me coupons.
