What year Mini? What OS are you running?

According to a comment on Anandtech's article on Fusion Drive, if you boot off of an external drive, and have your platter and solid state (both of them formatted) in the Mini, then Disk Utility will recognize it as a broken Fusion Drive and then you can combine them.

I don't know then

Do you have 2 drives in there now? I thought you couldn't do dual drives in that one because of cooling, or was that just a rumor?

Probably a rumor, considering thats what the Mini Server sku does. And you can buy dual drive brackets for like $40 or so.

I have an 830 and stock drive in there right now. I bought the OCW dual drive kit and works like a charm.

What lent the rumor credibility was that the server model didn't have teh ATi graphics.

But as Gus says, he already has 2 drives in there.

Gus, trying cloning your OS drive and boot off of it, see if the drives sho wup as fusion-able.

yeah i did fusion with a smaller SSD primary to the cheap larger samsung 840 that only lasts 1000 P/E cycles (500 TB or 1/10th of the samsung 830). It's okay for an exercise but honestly a waste of space.
