COuldn't leave things alone...Decided to try the Enzotech on this mobo, since I won't have the RMA till midweek....big mistake. The TR Ultra Extreme is NOT flat. the AS5 had a Dime-sized bare metal spot of to one side. I think it needs to be lapped. SO I try to remove the backplate! Fused cushion..took about 20 minutes to remove and I don't doubt I cracked something....so I can't use that mount again. Then the Enzotech...I COULDNOT screw those things in. I tried for 45 minutes. I took the mobo almost out, tried it in..Ram out ram in. If I install it out I don't think I can get all the mobo screws in...but I couldn't screw it down. SO I'll wait and try again with the new board. SO..PlanC..stock HS in...great! My temps at idle are like 58-50-58-50...That's just great. No OC of course...gonna try remounting it but my GOD!!!!! Time to lap in the mean time...

Folks over at xtremesystems say it's a better performer than the Ultra Exteme 120.

I have to get the Enzo Ultra on first! I emailed support to see if I could get another glue pad...maybe they'll mail one...

WHy did I get a quad..should have gotten the 6800. I picked up a 6600 duo and have that in now..idle with the same stock cooler...OCed mildly to 2925Mhz...37-35...under Prime torture for an hour...50-45...I actually can use a quad in my work, but it's becoming a nightmare. SHould have just done my first water cooled...it may be no choice!

But I'll try lapping the UltrAEX anyways..

LoL!

Some guys (in these forums) tried to tell me TR made them that way on purpose!

Bwahahahahaha! :D

Next time, don't remove the tab from the cushion, e.g. don't 'glue' your back plate to the mobo.

Also, carefully heating up the back plate with a hair dryer would have made it come off much easier -- that and/or working some dental floss between the cushion and the mobo...

Just don't overheat anything when doing this! ;)

A dime sized spot is nearly 1/3 of your processor.

Bad TIM application and bad mount too.

Sounds like that's the least of your problems though.

The TIM was perfect, the mount was as well. Unfortuately the high spot prevented it from hitting. It's not the processor. The stock sink and the cpu had a nice thin even coat when I removed it....
