Sinema now playing tough for the loopholes of hedge fund ultra wealthy. What a self centered biatch

The changes to the carried interest tax as written (extending holding from 3 to 5 years) are only worth about $14B. Sort of feels like catnip for her to oppose and get stripped out that was deliberately included for that purpose letting the rest of it sail through. I never got the feeling Manchin felt particularly strongly about it and now he's describing it as a must have. I think they built this in to give her a win.

How does Sinema get away with never having to talk to the press?

I can't recall her being interviewed.

She should explain to people her understanding of carried interest and why she insists on keeping it.

Nobody can force her to do interviews but that's going to be somewhat of a liability in 24 when she's up and Gallego is talking to EVERYONE.

My working theory is that she is very deeply weird, doesn't like her job, and harbors a general contempt for the people who elected her.

Yeah, she's above everyone else and this is merely a stepping stone to bigger and better things (for her).

I just remembered there was a brief period of time last year when the scuttlebutt was that she thought she'd run for president in 24.

Further evidence for my position that anybody who had anything to do with the Green Party should be renting a rubber room instead of running for any sort of office. They can keep most of the libertarians who don't realize they are just republicans or simply fascists company.

Her career as a senator should have ended immediately after her stupid "thumbs down" incident. There should have been someone waiting outside the chamber to take away her creds/badge/whatever, and escorted her to the nearest Forever 21 so she can resume her work there as assistant manager of early shift.

My working theory is she has no intention of being a senator after this term and wants a cushy job when she’s out of office.

If you’re right and she thought she was going to be able to run for president after this though maybe she’s just completely delusional.

I'd prefer Ducey not appoint her replacement so we'll all have to deal for a bit. But this lady is entirely replaceable and we should do so when the opportunity presents itself.

Agree. I wasn't taking the fallout into consideration.

Sanders is potentially killing this bill by introducing an amendment to remove fossil fuel handouts, basically killing Manchin's pipeline he was getting out of it. Everyone knows Manchin will back out if that happens, so Republicans will probably vote for it to see the bill killed.

I doubt it. Approval of Mountain Valley is a separate piece. If the GOP wants to nuke the fossil fuel positive stuff in the bill Manchin would probably let them. He's still going to get that pipe.

Interesting...latest CBO score for the new bill shows a net reduction in the deficit, thanks to closing tax loopholes for ultra-wealthy and hedge funds.

Not since Bill Clinton could we have nice things and cut the deficit at the same time!

Reducing the deficit will surely get conservatives on board, right? They care so much about it! /S

Lol can’t find video of it, but yesterday when CNN tried to talk to her, her assistant did all the talking for her. She just walked and smiled.

They weren't gonna tell her no while she was potentially in play.

We knew this would be the case.
What's the saying, "don't let perfect be the enemy of good" or something to that effect?
The Dems grabbed onto what Manchin was willing to go for and they certainly weren't going
let this pass them by because of Sinema's objections. Easiest case is to give her what she's objecting to.

Now let the repugs have their shit fit.

CNN: Sinema says she will 'move forward' on economic bill, giving Democrats the votes to move ahead

And so it goes on to become law.
What gets me is the obvious hold republicans in congress have on these two so called democrats. When Manchin is up there talking he is always flanked by republicans. The most powerful congressional republicans. Like a puppet with a arm up its ...... pulling the strings, moving the mouth.
This time around I guess Schumer had the longer arm.

Now just watch as Fox News blames our future on this bill. Gas, food, employment and unemployment, the national debt, fires in CA, floods in the south, Ukraine, Pelosi's face lift, Biden droopy eyes, oh yes.... Fox will definitely blame every bad thing to come on this one passage. But we already knew that didn't we?

so what are dems giving versus the original deal?

agreed on "don't let perfect be the enemy of good" here. dems need a big legislative win - this is it along with CHIPS

When is the Sienna interview scheduled so she can explain to the country why it was so important to her to save the carried interest loophole

BTW kinda proves the plutocracy still remains. Sienna is a cancer to the Democratic Party. Protect the super rich at all costs. Can she be recalled?

Republicans and Democrats have been trying to get rid of it but there are always a few Senators that are bribable

They care about it when Democrats are in power. Reduction of deficit comes from less government spending and/or higher taxes -> worse economy. Thus, they are only in support of deficit reduction when it gives them political ammo. When Republicans are in power, they have not been in favor for deficit reduction (at least I can't think of a single time in modern history).

It's absolutely morally wrong, but it's really not that much money as far as the whole bill is concerned, so let her get set up for her multimillion dollar lobbying job she has waiting for her when she doesn't run again.
