Should christians be accepting of other religions?!

Someone i know at work is a die hard, outspoken, bible loving christian. They say that every other religion is wrong and that only christians go to heaven because otherwise why would christ even come in the first place. They are very hard about other religions being out right wrong.

It just seems bad how some christians are unaccepted of other religions. Should they be accepted or try to battle and convert everyone they meet?

Um, you're categorizing all Christians as unaccepting when only a small minority probably are. It's no different than other hardcore fanatics of other religions being "unaccepting" of other religions. What's the difference? Oh wait, there isn't any.

No.

We should be tolerant of them.

That doesn't mean we have to like or support them.

Too many people have tolerance and acceptance confused. And even then don't have any idea what either mean.

For reference, watch the South Park episode on the subject.

I'm sorry if it sounded like categorizing. Its just a specific person i want to shutup. haha. Its not exactly what theyre saying thats annoying its just that every chance they get, they preach. Can someone give me some really realyl hard christian question (not mean, or stupid , just really long and difficult) So they can be quiet and ponder for a while

Ask them "Why hasn't God chosen to take your stupid life yet, and can you ask him to hurry up?"

Tolerant and accepting but it doesn't hurt to have conviction about your own beliefs, but you should be able to accept other people's choices (even if you think they are wrong).

No, absolutely not! They should DEFINITELY not be accepting of other religions because then when they die God can send them all to hell for being asshats and believing in the ignorant, superiority-driven contorted blasphemy that they *thought* was God's will.

I am perfectly fine accepting that you follow a different religion. However I do believe that the God of the Bible is the only God. How can I do otherwise when the Bible explicitly says it is the only truth?

Because it is wrong. God's shaking his head right now wondering, "WTF? Why is a fvcking book undermining me?!"

Change your faith. Don't worry, I got you covered 😉

Well, let's see....I think Christianity is not a religion to worry about being unaccepting right now. Yeah, there's the occassional nut but you don't see wholesale religious hatred from Christianity like you see of the "peaceful religion of Islam".

That said, part of being a Christian is spreading the word of Christ either through words or actions. So while they should be tolerant that doesn't mean they aren't going to try and gain followers.

edit: Though this does remind me of the South Park bit where everyone is in hell and different people are saying they are from such and such religion so they should be in heaven. Then Satan tells them that the right religion was actually Mormonism.

Why? Just because you don't accept a religion, doesn't mean you don't accept a person.

I think you must be tolerant and accepting of other's religions, even if they don't correspond with your own. However, I do believe in one true gospel of Jesus Christ, but I also believe that this gospel will be taught to everyone that does or has ever lived. Consider this.

1 Peter 4:6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

I believe the Gospel will be taught to all people. How else could God's judgement be just if not everyone was given a chance to accept his true gospel?

This being said, what right do we have to judge another person or religion and whether or not they are going to heaven or hell? Only God is capable of such a decision. To try and do so ourselves is to try to do God's job, and no offense, but I don't think anyone on the Earth right now is up for the task.

No, just trying to explain my belief. But when your belief corresponds to certain portions of the Bible, I would expect you to use it. After all, I would assume that most people that post on this thread believe in the Bible.

I think people like that should STFU. Just look what conflicts religion is causing world wide.

I believe that there is one Godbut that people can choose to worhip him in whatever way they want to. But the "religions" that promote terrorism, killing, etc... Are obviosuly defamations of how they started out long ago and are no longer serving what they were originally created to do.

Well, assuming they are Christian... then their religion tells them that there is only one true religion, Christianity, so by virtue of the fact that they are Christian, they will believe that there is only one true religion

It's not religion causing the conflict. It's close-minded nutjob fanatics that belong to the religion. If they didn't belong to the religion, they'd still be making trouble for society but simply under another flag.
