Should AT forums thread/reply boxes include a spelling/grammar checker?

For example, set the forum personal options to link it into word or open office or even the spell checker in thunderbird and run it thru a spelling/grammar check before it is posted? Is it even possible for something like that to be implemented on these boards. Or even to have a link to it on the pop up box on the reply/new thread screens.

I bet spell checking hundreds of posts per minute could get pretty CPU intensive(assuming it was done on the server end)....

i was talking about it being on the user end, some how, still trying to figure out how it would work, since it would cost money for AT to license a dictionary.

No. People should learn how to write and spell in the first place. Computers do all the work these days as it is.

Nah, it will make our lives boring, and we'll have no one to rip apart for their spelling and grammar.

if everyone said that, the only thing computers would ever have ever amounted to would be pr0n and to blow up the soviet union

It shouldn't excuse illiteracy. I learned how to write and spell in school without using spell check.

I'm more casual here to, but it doesn't take that much effort to use correct grammar and spelling. If you've learned it, it should show through in all of your writing, regardless of the forum (no pun intended).

GOOD LORD NO. It's like having a small child play with expensive toys. You want to rip it out of their hands before they can do any MORE damage. Leave the forums like they are. They're already effed up with FuseTalk Standard -what isn't broken shouldn't be fixed (read: downgraded)!!

Regardless...i agree with some of the other people here. The forums are already too bloated. Leave them as they are. Good suggestion though.
