It would be very interesting to read a thorough review of the Acer Switch Alpha 12, the only fanless Core i tablet\2-in-1 on the market.
How quickly and at what temperature levels does the CPU throttle?
How does a concurrent workload on the GPU affect how soon the CPU\GPU throttles?
What is the maximum temperature measured on the outside of the device?
Are these temps high enough to decrease the device's lifespan compared to its cooler-running competition?
Despite inevitable throttling, how does the CPU perform compared to the Core M?
I'm a sucker for speed and bang-for-my-buck, so I bought one during the Microcenter $500 sale. But I'd be sad if it turned out that it throttled so much that I wasn't getting anything that the lighter, more energy efficient Core M competition couldn't deliver. The acer is 2lbs, while the Dell Latitude 7275 and 5175\5179 are 1.6lbs, the HP Elite X2 1012 is 1.8lbs, and the Lenovo Miix 700 is 1.7lbs. Most of those devices also seem to have an easier time getting ~7 hours of battery while the Acer is more like ~5.
Would anyone else like to see Anandtech do a thorough review?
