Duvie was pretty beligerent in that thread anyway before Bozo stepped in. But regardless, that's not appropriate for any member to be PM'ing to another member. PM's are not free reign - mods can drop the axe if a PM is out of line. I know for sure if that was posted as a post in OT that he would get a short vacation, not sure if it's the same for a PM.

If you have a beef with a mamber over a PM, PM a Mod, don't repost it in a public forum. Sure, Mods can read PM's, but I don't see any mods posting them in FI. WTF is wrong with you?

Yeah, Duvie got defensive about people rushing the Prescott to the guillotine before it had gotten a chance to be reviewed in full shipping trim. But it looks to me like he was punching above the belt despite a bit of provocation, until he got called a "fool" for referring to a different article than the one mentioned by the OP.

Well Private means one thing here and another somewhere else. I took for granted that the post relating to the posting of the PM was doing something not legal which is not the case. Vacation-Ban has really no effect on anyones life.
I actually hate it when someone has a word battle with another member and comes down here to cry and whine that they are getting picked on.
Dont take my post as anything other than the legal aspect of the posting of the PM. It had nothing to do with the unspoken or unpublished rule as to divulging the PM

Private messages are not private because the mods read them all the time, but the rule of thumb is to keep them private unless someone is threatening you(cough Ausm). I've posted a PM once the entire time I was on AT, and that was because another member threatened my life.

OTOH mods love to read your sh!t especially when they are certain "Elite" members that have a personal beef with you. Then when they give it away in another thread they back off or delete it. Maybe I'm just bitter, but I don't trust PMs one bit anymore.

I think he was out of line to say that to you, but you should have reported it to the mods instead of posting it here. He didn't threaten you, but I can understand you being upset. Understand, however, that Elite members are not above the law. They do get banned and the like, but you should keep PMs private unless someone is threatening you. There is an ignore feature.

Man this is one of the better threads in awhile. While I feel PM's are semi-private I think that if you use them to hide behind dont be suprised if someone posts them for all to see. I see the pm feature as a way to keep the clutter down, but since they are not in fact private (seems that mods read them at will) I dont see anything wrong with posting them in open discussion. It kind of evens the playing field for us lesser users.
