As long as you spend responsibly, and pay everything off right away to avoid going into debt, it's a great idea to use it to build credit.

Yes, Credit Cards yield incredible benefits when you want to get a loan. It's a good start on your credit rating when used responsibly. I recommend getting one and simply using it to pay for your gas, then at the end of the month, pay your bill. If you pay on time there's no interest so you're getting a good credit rating with absolutely no cost to you.

A drunken, weed smoking, irresponsible, 19 year old should never get near a credit card.

A checkbook balancing, going-to-class, pay the bills, young adult could greatly benefit from getting good credit at a young age.

It depends on the 19-year old. I had 4 by the time I was 18, but I was running my own business and have always been fiscalling responsible.

There's many things a 19yr. old shouldn't have(std, gun, jail sentence, child, alimony payment, DUI, etc.), but a C.C. isn't one of them.

yes...if you are not responsible enough to pay it off at 19, you deserve any debt you accumulate and might as well learn to pay it off early

I had one at 18. As long as you don't go thinking its free money its really handy. Paying it off every month is a VERY good idea.

I am 19 years old, have had a credit card since i was 13 and i have credit better then most middle aged ppl. It would be no problem for me to walk into my bank and get a 5k unsecured loan anyday!

2k per card now, I owe nothing and I am preapproved to buy 200k house.

Yes, it is a good idea!

19 year old shouldn't NOT have a credit card. It is in a 19 year old's BEST INTEREST to have a credit card. As long as he doesn't blow it. Don't blow it.

I was 21 when i bought my first {old} house.

{Almost 22,and I had been at the same job for 2.5 years}

Be careful with the credit card.

Depends on the 19 year old. Some would be fine with one, other never will be at any age.

Totally depends on the person.

However, at that point, age won't matter. If someone's stupid with money then, the best that can happen to them is to learn to be smart with money after getting into a bunch of debt.

I was a drunken, weed smoking, irresponsible 19 year old but I had perfect credit. On the other hand, I've met plenty of straight as a razor upstanding folks you get in as deep as a tweny dollar whore because they can easily delude themselves about finances when it comes to their car or their PC or their yuppy lifestyle or whatever the drug of choice is. It really just depends on the person.

Yes, age has nothing to do with financial responsibility.

I think any 19 year old would understand how credit works, unless he/she is retarded or mentally incapable of grasping the fact that money charged must be paid back in full.
