If we're going to make a holiday out of something attached to the 9/11 attacks, it should fall on the day that the Patriot Act is repealed. Of course, we first have to repeal the Patriot Act, and that's extremely unlikely to happen any time soon.

2,500+ died during the attack on Pearl Harbor. 2,977 died on 9/11. Doesn't seem like "way more".
Correction 2,403 died in Pearl Harbor and 2,977 victims (+19 hijackers) died in 9/11 Terrorist attacks.

Generally, holidays are intended to allow individuals to celebrate or commemorate an event or tradition of cultural or religious significance.
To remember the attacks on American soil or remember the people who died?
