Should 330W Enermax PSU be good enaough to power a Athlon 1.4Ghz w/ECS board?

Well, I have one of them, and let me tell you, it's a sweet piece of equipment :). It is more than enough. I have my Tbird 1200@1400 (1.85V), GF256 DDR (very power hungry), 7200 RPM hd, 12x burner and 56x cdrom, and 2 case fans, 512 of ram. I don't even think I am starting to stress it. The fans on it are sweet. It's like having a 3rd case fan.

If you have that PSu then it shouldbe fine. However if I was buying a new PSU to run that rig it wouldn't be my first choice ;)

I love Enermax PSU's personally, besides their slight issues with a few of Epox's Athlon boards their damn nice.

I'm not knocking Enermaxs. It just that 330W is a bit old and doesn't have the strongest combined 3.3V + 5V rails. It never became AMD certified. I'd be confident it would work fine but if I was buying new i'd look at another supply :)

I had my tbird 1.1 along with 5 scsi drives and a few cdroms on a knock off 300 watt ps, and it worked great.

Ah, okay, I though your dislike was in relation to Enermax specifically. Their 300W units managed AMD certified even at 1.4GHz though, so I'd imagine their 330W units could do fine.

If your extremely lucky and it's a very high quality 250W unit then maybe.... I wouldnt count on it though.

I just need to run it on that power for a day or so. You don't think it can handle the Athlon?

At 1.4GHz?
I highly doubt it.
It's possible if it's a very high quality 250W unit that it may do fine but the vast majority of 250W units can't handle a 1.4GHz Athlon.

I have
T-Bird 1.4GHz
ECS K7S5A
1 X IDE DVD-ROM
1 X IDE CD-RW
2 X IDE HD's
running on a 250W Sparkle PSU

My only concern is that the Sparkle is running a lot hotter than it used to on my T-Bird 700@900.

Ive got a Enermax 431w PSU. The only complaint I have with it is that damn +5v rail issue concerning Epox mobo's. It hovers at +4.85v on my 8K7A.
