Shoud I unlock my BFG OC 6800nu?

After research a couple of topics here, I decide to ask the question:

1) When playing game, will there be any noticeable artifact on screen?

2) Currently, it's a 350/700. Do I have to OCing the core/memory speed to get even more result?

3) My current video driver is a nvidia 66.93. Do I have to uninstall it, and install the older driver in order to make it compatible with Rivatuner?

THANKS!

1)You may get artifacts in games or benchmarks if the unlocked pipelines are damaged;
2)That's a matter of personal preference - not required, but could be fun and performance enhancing;
3)Probably not. The RT functions I've used w/66.93 and 67.03 have worked fine. Try it to see.

1) Only you can determine that by trying it yourself.

2) You don't have to. You should notice a small boost after unlocking, even at stock. It's your call. If you plan on using AA/AF and higher res, you might want to OC your memory a little.

3) You can keep the 66.93 driver set. That's what I'm using right now, and it's compatible with rivatuner. I actually want to try some of the newer betas. I feel like I'm missing something.

Alright thanks guy. I'm going to see if my 6800nu can be unlock or not (this is all about luck right?). Anyway, if I success on unlocking the pipe (w/o no damaged pipe), do I have to keep Rivatuner installed in my computer in order for the card to be unlock? If I uninstall it, the pipe will go back to 12 instead of 16?

I just got the BFG 6800OC 128MB card. I got NVidia's latest drivers from their site, and then i installed rivatuner and unlocked the extra 4 pipelines and the vertex shader. Though from testing it out, i get horrible artifacts with the pipelines unlocked (but if only the shader is unlocked it works fine). That means that my card is unable to get the 16 pipelines right? Or would different drivers take out the artifacts....

I just want to know if this means i should sell it and buy a new one to try out the unlocking. i have a friend that wants to buy this same card but doesn't want to overclock it, so i could sell it to him. Or does anyone know of any way to get rid of the artifacts after unlocking the 16 pipes?

Thanks

If unlocking the additional pipelines results in artifacts, the pipes are physically damaged and changing drivers will not cure that. You might get lucky with another card. Guru3D's poll of several hundred attempts currently shows a success rate of about 53%. Of the 4 6800's I've had, 2 PNY & 2 BFG, one of each was successful. But whether the additional pipes open or not, these cards deliver good performance and are being offered at attractive prices lately.
