Shots from yesterday

Did a shoot with one of my friends who came to visit over the weekend. How are these? She has no modeling experience so we experimented with numerous different poses during the shoot.

In my book, 2 comes the closest to being a "portrait." The rest are modeling poses. A good portrait shows the head - period. But, that is my personal view - others will differ - that's OK.

Nice shots, nice model. 2 is a solid one, as others noted. I do like 5, although the lighting is just a hair harsh with a bit of dark shadow showing in places where it shouldn't... Additional soft/fill light sources would have been perfect, but it's still not a bad shot. I'm sure your model would be pleased with the results.

I feel like you applied a lot of NR... I'm getting this plastic feel from the images...

I like #1

Well, she requested that I add more than usual softening to her skin even though her skin is pretty good already. Just picky I guess, haha.

Ahhh..okay, just wanted to check that you don't normally apply that much NR.

I understand the female request....they all seem to ask for perfect skin 😉 The bad part? I don't provide the request lol.

#2 and #4 are my favs, #4 because the pattern and partial framing from the staircase is interesting, although it makes things feel a bit cramped. I am not a fan of #5. Background is somewhat junky and the yellow lighting on the skin reminds me of incandescent. Flash also feels a bit too harsh.

#1 and #3 are pretty good as well. All in all, you've got that soft-model look down pretty well, but the framing and storytelling can always use some improvement.

What was your lighting setup like? Wish I had a really pretty friend like yours to experiment with 🙂

Nice shots, yeah as all have said 2 is my fav.
