Shot Downs madness

Hello
I have WinXP pro, P4-2.53.
My PC without any warnings shots down and rebuts itself. I can not find any pattern to this madness. I did not download any new software, ran current virus scan, scan reg for problems - all looks OK.
When I send the error report to Microsoft - on line responds tells me I have Drivers conflict. ??????
Does anybody have any idea how to check it or what causes these shot downs.

Thank you

There's probably a blue screen coming up that might be of some help, but by default Windows XP doesn't show it. Go in to Control Panel > System > Advanced tab > Startup and Recovery Settings > uncheck "Automatically restart" and hit OK. Next time your computer wants to reboot you'll probably see a blue screen which might give you some clues as to what the problem is.

Other thoughts:
Are you overclocking? If not, the first things I'd look at are the PSU and RAM. Try swapping each of those out (one at a time) for known good parts if you have them available.

Here is the error message I am getting:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAIL

Technical information:
STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x00000127,0x00000005,0x00000000,0xF8495FD2)
Atapi.sys ? Address F8495FD2 base at F8491000, DateStamp 3dbddb04

Do you have any ideas what this means ????

Thanks
