That was shit.

The Shark lasted 15 seconds and made a tiny show.
The Renegade lasted 30 seconds and was only slightly larger.

The smoke stacks were garbage too. As were the sparklers.

WTF?

FUCK FIREWORKS! FUCK THEM!

How can you afford fireworks without a job? Shit is expensive, I can't even afford them.

We had a major show in my backyard last year. Went all out since I never had kids before. They were like "THIS IS BETTER THAN DOWNTOWN!".

I prepared at Phantom a few months in advance when your money GOES A LONG way.

I actually had tons leftover because it was getting too late to light more off.

depends on the state laws. for example here in florida you can't legally fire anything that 'leaves the ground'. So sparklers are ok, basically. But there is a weird loophole that is isn't illegal to buy any kind of fireworks. You just have to 'promise' you aren't going to actually shoot them. ():)

there are some people trying to get the law changed, but it hasn't yet, i don't think.

:) That's pretty funny.

"Yeah just buying these to look at. Totally not going to light them. Honest... No really. "

Fireworks are so, so much better set off in your backyard.
Big displays are fun but nothings as good as a few beers and high explosives up close. :)

'merica. land of the free. unless you want fireworks or kinder eggs.

Kinder eggs suck anyways, they need to ban them internationally on the grounds of taste.

Apparently proper haggis is banned in the US as well, not that you are losing out there either TBH.

Was thrown in jail for a weekend, and charged with possession of a destructive device for having a case of heavy duty fireworks I got in Mexico.

So fucking jealous right now,...

I would easily spend a good $1,000 on fireworks each 4th, if my state allowed them.

Best fireworks I've ever bought were some little unlabeled tubes about 4" tall (hue hue) that came out of the firework vendor's truck. Got them for about $5 a pop. Those things were louder than any fireworks I've bought before.

Illegal fireworks are the best ():)

IRT the laws in Florida. Those selling them are supposed to get you to sign a waiver that you are using them for the legal purposes in the state which include being a farmer or running a fish hatchery and using them to scare off wild birds.

Legally they are supposed to get this waiver signed.

Really? These count as just for scaring birds legally?

What's wrong with that? Are you implying that they aren't effective at scaring birds? So what if they happen to have the totally badass side effect of exploding in a burst of colors? Or does that just distract the birds mid-fright? "HOLY SHIT, WE GOTTA GET OUTTA... Oooooh, pretty. Guess I'll stay and keep pecking holes in this guy's house."

Or you could just legalise sparkly high explosives for their true purpose...

Entertaining slightly inebriated blokes in their back gardens?

Fireworks are fun, but you have to spend at least a few hundred dollars to not be utterly disappointed with the experience.

True...like most things today though.

I spent about $250 this year and maybe had $200 or so in left overs from last year.

After about 3.5 hours of lighting things off, we called it a night and I have about $100-200 in leftovers still. Some good 500g repeaters and smaller ones, some cones, and a bunch of roman candles. A few mortar shells. Tons of lady fingers and bottle rockets.
